(Columbus)--U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry is asking the Ohio Supreme Court not to set an execution date for Jose Trinidad Loza, who killed four members of his girlfriend's family 24 years ago. Kerry wants a review of the case after the International Court of Justice ruled that Loza's and other Mexican national's rights were violated because authorities had not advised them of their rights to a consular notification under Article 36 of the Vienna Convention. Loza was convicted of killing his girlfriend's Middletown family back on January 16, 1991. Loza and the underaged girl were arrested as they tried to flee the area.
